This ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) cable, also designated SCA in some standards, is manufactured with outer aluminum strands concentrically layered around a galvanized steel core. The steel core carries the mechanical tensile load, while the aluminum strands conduct current, making the conductor suitable for overhead transmission and distribution lines where both strength and conductivity are required.
